Acks, also known as Red Toothberries, are larger and red versions of regular Toothberries, also enemies from the games Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. They pursue and also bite the Kongs upon contact.

Overview[]

Acks only appear in the Ruins level Itty Bitty Biters of the Donkey Kong Island. They are less common and can jump higher than regular Toothberries, making them harder to predict. Acks are also more aggressive than their regular counterparts by actively pursuing the primates. If a Ack bumps into the primates, it will take away one heart of health from them, just like every other enemy in both games. Also, unlike the regular Toothberries, they take two hits from jump attacks instead of one in order to be defeated, but they can be easily disposed by the heroes throwing barrels at them or using single roll attacks. Acks are also immune to the ground-pound move and peanuts shot by Diddy Kong's Peanut Popguns.

Trivia[]

  • In the Ruins level Itty Bitty Biters of the games Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, there are many background statues sculpted after Acks and their variants. There is no real in-game lore about their origin, so nobody is sure what these creatures are but they seem to be living inside the ruins of the level for awhile.
