Barrel Bayou is the first stage in Krem Quay, and the the thirteenth stage in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, as well as the sixth stage in Krem Cauldron, and the twelfth stage in Donkey Kong Land 2. It is preceded by Kleever's Kiln in Donkey Kong Country 2, and Squawks's Shaft in Donkey Kong Land 2, respectively, and it is followed by Glimmer's Galleon in both games.

Overview[]

As the first swamp-themed level, the Kongs make their way across walkways full of Zingers, Kloaks, Neeks, Klomps, Flitters, and Klobbers. Hence the title, there are many barrels found throughout the level. You can rotate them, but they have a short time limit before you are automatically fired out. Introduced in this level are the green Krocheads, which help the Kongs get across murky water. There is also a Rambi crate found early in the level.

K-O-N-G Letters[]

Letter K: Found at the beginning above the first barrel cannon.

Letter O: Located under a Zinger floating near a barrel cannon.

Letter N: After the first Bonus Level, Diddy and Dixie encounter two Kloaks, with the Letter N located behind the second one.

Letter G: Found with two rows of bananas, which is reached using the barrel cannon.

Bonus Levels[]

Bonus Level 1: After Rambi's No Animal Sign, the Kongs pass a cannon, and later encounter a Kloak, with an arrow of bananas near him. He will float to the left, and the Kongs will have to follow him. Kloak throws a chest, which they have to defeat him with. This will release a cannonball, and they must put it in the cannon and get launched up into the Bonus Level.

Bonus Level 2: The Bonus Barrel is found high up near another Kloak. You must wait until he throws a barrel, which you jump onto to reach the barrel.

DK Coin[]

You get the DK Coin after passing Rambi's No-Animal Sign.

Trivia[]

  • In the SNES version of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, a hidden barrel cannon at the top of the screen can be found before Rambi's animal crate, however it will simply shoot the player back down if fired into (see Gallery section above). This suggests that it was intended to be a Warp Barrel, but the idea was scrapped and the barrel being left behind may have been an oversight. The barrel is not longer present in the same location of the GBA version.
