A Bonus Coin is a type of coin found in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III. Bonus Coins replace the Kremkoins from the previous game. They are acquired by beating a Bonus Stage.
There are a total of eighty five Bonus Coins in Donkey Kong Country 3. By saving them up, they can be given to Boomer in order to lock additional stages in Krematoa. For every fifteen Bonus Coins the Kongs give, Boomer sets an explosive fuse go up and blocks the rocks preventing the monkeys from entering the area.
- Pressing L, R, R, L, R, R, L, R, L, R and then entering the code WATER in a game slot at the Game Select screen allows Dixie and Kiddy to go behind the waterfall by Bazaar's General Store to play a crystal minigame in the game for that slot. If they win the minigame they get all eighty five Bonus Coins as apposed to a Banana Bird. The two Kongs must first play the crystal minigame before entering the cheat code though.
- When a Bonus Coin is collected in the Game Boy Advance version, the two monkeys do not run out of the Bonus Stage unlike the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version. Instead, they stay idle in one place.
