Canopy Chaos is the third stage in Lost Mangroves from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. It is preceded by Shipwreck Shore and followed by Trunk Twister. In this stage a secret exit can be found that leads to 1-B Busted Bayou.

Overview[]

This stage has tons of brambles and other floor hazards, along with more climbable objects that it’s predecessor, as well as new enemies that climb walls. It also shows off Cranky Kong’s abilities to tackles these issues. There also more pullable objects.

Walkthrough[]

The Kongs hurdle in and encounter vines and a Wild Wendell and a Monocle Monica. There are also moving platforms with brambles on either side off the end of them and a Dozy above. A Kong Barrel featuring Cranky Kong is ahead, along with an Archy. Heading upwards are tons of platforms with vines dropping from some, and a couple platforms having spikes that can be activated via pull plugs, along with more Archies and Monocle Monicas and Wild Wendells and a Barrel Cannon at the top, which leads to a shooting segment either yielding rewards or not. After the segment is a Dozy and Monocle Monica and another Cranky Kong Barrel, and more floor hazards paired with swinging vines. More Monocle Monicas are after this, flying around a vine, with a Wild Wendell at the end. Another swerving platform is after this with a propeller that must be ducked under, and a Monocle Monica in front of a Barrel Cannon which shoots the Kongs to the next checkpoint. A Cranky Kong Barrel and many Thug Slugs are after this, along with climbing surfaces and a Wild Wendell, Dozy, and another propeller that must be ducked under (above a platform bobbing up and down). Another Monocle Monica and Dozy are after this, along with a long swinging vine leading to a Launch Barrel which leads to the Slot Machine Barrel.

  • 2. Before jumping on the treetops, the second piece is automatically revealed behind the spikes by going towards them, they can be avoided by bouncing.
  • 3. On the highest treetop platform, pops out after pounding next to the Plump Yellow Fruit on it.
  • 4. In the suspended bag right after the vines, obtained by throwing a Wild Wendell shell into it.
  • 5. Revealed from the rocks high up above the treetops, in the area which has a lot of Thug Slugs.
  • 6. In the secret area found after jumping above the rock cliff after the one where the previous piece was found, received after collecting all the bananas there.
  • 7. On the platform above the Barrel Cannon.

Secret Exit[]

Cranky Kong is required for this secret exit. At the end of the stage, Cranky will need to utilise the crate on the right and high jump to the platforms above the Slot Machine Barrel. A hidden area with a portal across a platform with brambles adorned will reveal itself once high enough. Through the portal is a small room containing the secret Slot Machine Barrel.

Note: If the crate is broken, there will be a spring in its place that will bounce the Kongs up to the area anyway.

Trivia[]

  • Before reaching the secret exit, there is a phonograph that when ground-pounded in front of will play the original Donkey Kong Country fanfare. It will also continue to play if the Kongs go through the portal or if it is off-screen.
