Click-Clacks, (ビートル Bītoru in Japan), are a species of generic beetle enemies first encountered in the game Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They are one of the few DKC2 enemies to make appearances in later games.

History

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest/ Land 2

The Click Clacks are somewhat common enemies usually found patrolling the areas of Gangplank Galleon and Krem Quay, although they are found other places also. Click-Clacks are actually more endurable than a lot of enemies in the game; they can be jumped on once and not be defeated immediately. However, when they are jumped on, they will be put helpless on their back, unable to move for a short time. While on their backside, they can be jumped on again to be defeated or picked up and used like a regular barrel projectile. Besides that, Click-Clacks can be defeated instantly with a cartwheel.

Click-Clacks return in Donkey Kong Land 2. There is no real difference between the DKC2 Click-Clacks, except players can control themselves in midair after jumping on one, whereas in Donkey Kong Country 2, the player gets knocked back slightly.

Donkey Kong Country 3

Main article: Knik-Knak

Though not directly returning, Knik-Knaks, in their yellow color, seem to have replaced them. They function very similar to them, and are critical in the boss Belcha.

DK: King of Swing/ DK: Jungle Climber

Click-Clacks made a reappearance in DK: King of Swing. Click-Clacks also appeared in DK Jungle Climber. In these games they climb around on pegs and they can't be attacked from the front as they will hurt Donkey Kong.

Trivia

  • Click-Clacks are one of the strongest regular enemies in DKC2, since they can endure two jumps in a row instead of the usual one (though cartwheels still defeat it).
