Four Electroids flying offscreen

Electroids are enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

Donkey Kong Country Returns (role)[]

Electroids first appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns in the seventh world, Factory. They are first seen in the second level of the world, Slammin' Steel, where they are quite common. They aren't seen again until the fifth level of the world, Switcheroo. In this level they serve most of the same purposes as before, except when climbing along chains, they may become an obstacle, as well as when walking on platforms. They will however, hover just high enough for you to crouch underneath them as they pass. They will also hover over tires, and you will occasionally have no choice other them to bounce over them at the right time. Later, In Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, they make an appearance as a common enemy in the Golden Temple level, Robo Factory.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (role)[]

In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, they make an appearance in the level Frozen Frenzy, rising in and out of holes in the ground, either by themselves or connected to another one of their kind.

Strategy (for both games, except for the last sentence.)[]

They can float up and down or horizontally back and forth alone, or as up to two, three or four connected. In some situations, they will even remain stationary. If multiple Electroids are connected, they can be side by side or can be connected from afar via a long purple beam of electricity, which will count as a single heart of damage if contact is made with it, or the Electroid itself. They can be killed individually with a barrel. This will cause it to explode, and break the beam connecting to the one it's connected to. They can also be defeated with Buckbombs, as well as by shoving them off the screen with the switches.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the fact that their cage-like bodies are made of metal (and electricity), they can be successfully destroyed with a wooden barrel.
  • an oddity with DKCTF is that though they were created by Colonel Pluck, or so assumed, they still continue to function, even though he was eventually defeated in the previous game, and has made no known appearances afterwards.
