Electroids are purple orbs of energy with beady black eyes inside of round, metal cages. They appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They can float up and down or horizontally back and forth alone or as up to two, three or four connected. In some situations they will even remain stationary. If multiple Electroids are connected, they can be side by side or can be connected from afar via a long purple beam of electricity, which will count as a single heart of damage in contact is made with it, or the Electroid itself.
Donkey Kong Country Returns (role)
Electroids first appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns in the seventh world, Factory. They are first seen in the second level of the world, Slammin' Steel, where they are quite common, and can be killed individually with a barrel, which will cause it to explode, and break the beam connecting to the the one it's connected to, if indeed it is. They aren't seen again until the fifth level of the world, Switcheroo. In this level they serve most of the same purposes as before, except when climbing along chains, they may become an obsacle, as well as when walking on platforms, although they will hover just high enough for you to crouch underneath them as they pass. They will also hover over tires, and you will occasionally have no choice other than to bounce over them at the right time. They can also be defeated with Buckbombs, as well as by shoving them off the screen with the switches. Later, In Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, they will make an appearance as a common enemy in the Golden Temple level Robo Factory.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (role)
In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, they will make an appearance in the level Frozen Frenzy, rising in and out of holes in the ground by themselves or connected to another two. This is odd, though, because they were created by Colonel Pluck, who was eventually defeated in the previous game and had made no known appearances in the on after.
- Despite the fact that their cage-like bodies are made of metal (and energy) they can successfully be destroyed with a wooden barrel.
- They are the elemental opposites of Char-Char.
