Giant Donkey Kong, or Giant DK, is an enhanced form of Donkey Kong that appears in the Super Smash Bros. game series. In this form, DK is bigger, stronger, and has more resistance to being knocked-out. However, due to his size, he is easier to hit.
Overview[]
Giant Donkey Kong first appeared in the game Super Smash Bros. as a boss, fought in the Stage 6 of the 1-Player Mode. Because of his incredible power, two characters are offered to the player as partners.
Giant Donkey Kong also appears in the game Super Smash Bros. Melee in two distinct places. The first is the Stage 2 of the Adventure Mode, where he appears after two Tiny Donkey Kongs are defeated. Unlike the previous game he is fought alone, with no allies. He is also found in events 2 and 25 in the Event Mode. In Event 2: Lord of the Jungle, he is the playable character and must defeat Tiny Donkey Kong. In Event 25: Gargantuans, the player must defeat Giant DK using Giant Bowser.
In the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Giant Donkey Kong is a secret opponent in Event 9: The Monster beneath the Earth. If the player, playing as Ike from the Fire Emblem game series, does not knock-out the two Diddy Kongs fast enough, Giant DK must be fought as well. He also appears in Event 22: Monkeys Unite, as Diddy Kong's partner, in which the player must use Diddy to defeat Sheik, from The Legend of Zelda game series, and Lucario, from the Pokémon game series. In Event 27: Three-Beast Carnage, R.O.B., being controlled by the player, must fight against Giant Bowser, Giant Donkey Kong and Giant Charizard. Additionally, in Co-Op Event 14: The Dark Guardians, first and second players controlling Tiny Ganondorf and Tiny Wolf, respectively, face Giant DK, alongside Giant Charizard, as bosses.
Giant Donkey Kong makes his latest appearance in the game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where he appears as the final boss in the Classic Mode of the character Jigglypuff, from the Pokémon game series.
Trivia[]
- In the games Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, regular Donkey Kong can become his giant form temporarily by collecting a Super Mushroom. It is also possible to achieve the same effect by playing the respective Special Modes in the mentioned games and setting rules for giant characters.
