The Gyrocopter is a key vehicle introduced in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and also appearing in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest's remake. The Gyrocopter is a type of helicopter that Funky Kong will lend to the Kongs on some conditions.
History
The Gyrocopter's first canonical appearance was technically Donkey Kong Country 2, though in its remake. Here, it was the main way of traveling to the worlds of Crocodile Isle quicker and faster, without having to defeat a boss to get to the map screen. It also served as the vehicle in Funky's Flights II's mini-games. In the mini-games, it's revealed that the Gyrocopter can drop bombs, shoot bullets, and has a grappling hook to hold onto various items exclusive to the mini-games, though had limited fuel.
It's next appearance was in Funky's Rentals of Donkey Kong Country 3. It was the only rent-able vehicle that could fly and did not rely solely on the water; it flew over all terrain, and because of this it can be used to find secret areas normally unreachable via boat, such as a Banana Bird Cave high in the mountains. However, it has a hefty price tag; all of the game's DK Coins must be collected and presented to Funky in order to get it.
