Krem Cauldron is the second world of the Crocodile Isle only found in the game Donkey Kong Land 2. The boss of this area is Kleaver.

Adjacent Worlds[]

Description[]

The Krem Cauldron is a fusion of Crocodile Cauldron and Krem Quay worlds after Crocodile Isle sank into the ocean and rose back up again. The reason the two worlds were merged was because of the Game Boy's hardware limitations, demanding to cut content from the game Donkey Kong Country 2. Kleaver is the only boss of this world. The boss Kudgel, originally from the world Krem Quay, does not appear in the game at all.

This world has eleven stages total with five coming from Crocodile Cauldron and five from Krem Quay plus a boss stage, making it the highest count of any stages in a world in the entire game. The stage, Bramble Blast was relocated to Krazy Kremland as the third stage of that world in Donkey Kong Land 2. This world also possesses many lava caves featuring the volcano part and the swamp part on the left with the sunken, broken ship from the Krem Quay.

Stages[]

Hothead Hop[]

It is the seventh stage overall, as well as the first lava stage in the game. Many wide pits must be traversed by the Kongs stepping on Krockheads, harmless enemies. However, some Krockheads are capable of throwing the primates upwards. It is impossible to figure out which type is until step on each of them. At the second quarter of the stage, there is an Animal Barrel for turning the heroes into Squitter the Spider. The Animal Buddy can create web platforms in order to reach a Bonus Barrel and collectables in high places. A Kannon for accessing a Bonus Room, and activated by the Kongs throwing a Kannonball at it, first debuts here in the game. Enemies found in the stage include Neeks, Klampons, Klobbers and Zingers.

Kannon's Klaim[]

It is the eighth stage overall, as well as the first mine shaft stage in Donkey Kong Land 2. The objetive of the heroes is to move upwards over multiple plank platforms by using Barrel Cannons and hooks. At some points, good timing is required for shooting Barrel Cannons in order to avoid enemies on the way. Neeks and Zingers are the main enemies in this stage.

Lava Lagoon[]

It is the ninth stage overall, as well as the second cargo hold stage in the game. Most of the traversal of the stage is made by moving underwater. However, the water is boiling, harming the primates upon contact. The Kongs must to hit Clapper the Seal in order to cool down the water temporarily, allowing to dive into it safely. The seal is always present next to the beginning of each water section. At some underwater locations, there are Animal Barrels for the heroes turn into Enguarde the Swordfish. The Animal Buddy makes easier to clear these sections by defeating aquatic enemies on the way. Enemies inside the stage are Flotsams, Klomps, Lockjaws and Puftups.

Redhot Ride[]

It is the tenth stage overall, as well as the second lava stage in Donkey Kong Land 2. Inside of it, the primates must use multiple Hot Air Balloons in order to move over lava pits. As soon as the Kongs step on the balloons, they will descend constantly, with the player controlling only the direction by using the "Left" or "Right" button. There is also an Animal Barrel for the heroes to transform into Rambi the Rhinoceros at the second quarter of the stage. Enemies here include Neeks, Zingers, Klobbers and Flitters.

Squawks's Shaft[]

It is the eleventh stage overall, as well as the second mine shaft stage in the game. Like as in the previous one, Barrel Cannons are used for traversal. Good timing is required by the player when shooting the spinning barrels at certain directions. After the first half of the stage, an Animal Barrel must be used by the primates to turn into Squawks the Parrot in order to progress. Klomps, Neeks, Krooks, Zingers and Flitters are enemies in this stage.

Barrel Bayou[]

It is the twelfth stage overall, as well as the first swamp stage in Donkey Kong Land 2. Most of the traversal of it is made by the Kongs using many Rotatable Barrels. Their shooting trajectory at eight directions is controllable by the player pressing the directional buttons. And, as opposed to Donkey Kong Country 2, there is no time limit for these Barrel Cannons to shoot. Just before the Star Barrel of the stage, an Animal Barrel can be found and used by the heroes to turn into Rambi the Rhinoceros. Enemies in the stage include Zingers, Neeks, Klomps, Klobbers, Flitters and Krockheads.

Glimmer's Galleon[]

It is the thirteenth stage overall, as well as the third cargo hold stage in the game. Most of the stage is underwater, and it takes place in a dark location, making possible to see only enemies and items. In order to light up the environment temporarily, the primates must touch Light Barrels scattered around the stage. Some of these barrels keep the lights on for longer than other ones. Trails and arrows of bananas can assist the navigation through darkness. At some points, there are also Animal Barrels for the Kongs to transform into Enguarde the Swordfish. Despite the name of the stage, Glimmer the Anglerfish does not appear here or in Donkey Kong Land 2 at all. Flotsams, Lockjaws, Shuris and Puftups are enemies found in this stage.

Krockhead Klamber[]

It is the fourteenth stage overall, as well as the second swamp stage in Donkey Kong Land 2. The primates must move over the swamp water by using large leafs and floating barrels as platforms, and by climbing on long cattails[1]. The stage also features Krockhead Barrels which must be touched to summon multiple Krockheads in order to cross over wide pits. However, these enemies will soon submerge afterwards, forcing the player to progress over them quickly. Other enemies in stage include Zingers, Neeks, Klingers, Flitters and Kaboings.

Rattle Battle[]

It is the fifteenth stage overall, as well as the third ship deck stage in the game. At the beginning of it, the heroes can use an Animal Barrel to turn into Rattly the Rattlesnake. Despite the ability of reaching high places and being able to bounce on Zingers making the progression easier, it is possible to clear the stage without using the Animal Buddy. Enemies found here are Kaboings, Zingers, Flitters and Kannons.

Slime Climb[]

It is the sixteenth stage overall, as well as the third ship mast stage in Donkey Kong Land 2. The objective of the player here is to keep moving upwards before the Kongs are caught up by boiling water. This hazard will rise at regular intervals, sinking the environment and forcing the primates to progress quickly by climbing on ropes and going through many enemies on the way. Click-Clacks, Klomps, Krunchas, Zingers, Kaboings, Klingers, Flitters and Neeks are enemies inside this stage.

Kleaver's Kiln[]

The boss stage takes place into a lava cave. The two heroes must face Kleaver, a giant, floating sword. The boss starts by throwing fireballs towards the Kongs, followed by a Wooden Barrel containing a Kannonball inside. After bouncing on the barrel and throwing the revealed projectile at Kleaver, the primates must cross over the lava by using Krockheads in order to reach the other edge of the arena. The boss will repeat the previous pattern and the Kongs must use the same strategy again. During the second phase of the boss battle, Kleaver will move back and forward above a Kannon located at one of the edges of the stage. The player must use good timing to get close by the Kannon and press the "B" button in order to shoot a Kannonball upwards hitting Kleaver. The heroes must move across the lava pit again over Krockheads while avoiding the boss' swing attacks. At the other side, the player must approach another Kannon and press the "B" button again at the right moment to shoot and hit Kleaver, finishing the battle. The boss will be defeated after receiving a total of four hits. That way, the world Krazy Kremland will become the next accessible location of the Crocodile Isle.
