Mankys attack by throwing a (seemingly) endless supply of barrels in the Kongs' path. If the Kong jumps onto the other side of a Manky Kong, it will turn around and attack from behind. As with other regular enemies, jumping or rolling into it will defeat him, but the former is usually safer. In later levels, they normally appear in high places throwing barrels, acting as obstacles.
- The name Manky Kong comes from the words "Mangy" and "Skanky", and a pun on the word "Monkey", Manky is also a British slang term meaning dirty. This is likely because Rareware, the creators of the game, is a British company.
- Manky Kong's name is similar to the name of the Pokémon, Mankey.
- Manky Kong appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as sticker.
- They are similar to and may be related to the Minky.
