Manky Kongs are enemies in Donkey Kong Country. They are the only Kongs in Donkey Kong Country that are an enemy. In fact, these orangutans are described as Kong reject orangutans, implying that they've been exiled from the Kong Family. This is due to their betrayal of the Primate Alliance during The Great Ape War. The Manky Kongs presumably migrated to Vine Valley, with many debuting in the level "Orang-utan Gang". This species of ape is very dangerous, but can be defeated with a jump from Donkey and Diddy.

Description

Mankys attack by throwing a (seemingly) endless supply of barrels in the Kongs' path. If the Kong jumps onto the other side of a Manky Kong, it will turn around and attack from behind. As with other regular enemies, jumping or rolling into it will defeat him, but the former is usually safer. In later levels, they normally appear in high places throwing barrels, acting as obstacles.

Aside from the various remakes of Donkey Kong Country Manky Kongs have not appeared again, though another orangutan named Lanky Kong appears in the game Donkey Kong 64.
