Mekanos is the fourth world of the Northern Kremisphere in the game Donkey Kong Country 3.[1] After clearing the world Kremwood Forest and unlocking the Hover Craft, both this world and Cotton-Top Cove can be accessed depending on the player's choice. Mekanos is an industrial island which generates pollution around the location (to the dismay of the Brother Bear Bramble). KAOS is the boss of this world and fought for the first time here in the game.

Stages
Fire-Ball Frenzy
The first stage of Mekanos is factory-based. Throughout it, Karbines, owl enemies in the background, will shoot bouncing fireballs from small cannons they are carrying at the same plane of the Kongs at regular intervals and patterns. Dixie and Kiddy Kong must avoid contact with these projectiles at all costs. They also must avoid to fall into large tanks containing hot liquid metal. By entering the first Bonus Room of the stage, the primates can turn into Squitter the Spider.
Demolition Drain-Pipe
The stage takes place inside a large pipeline system. Dixie and Kiddy must traverse most of it by riding a Toboggan. The vehicle is capable of bouncing on and defeating enemies, including green Buzzes. However, each hero will be harmed if the Toboggan collides against gaps and obstacles on the way.
Ripsaw Rage
Inside of this stage of giant hollow trees, a giant saw will ascend and cut through the trees from the bottom, moving the screen along at certain speed. The Kongs must avoid harm from direct contact with the blade, while progressing across the location and going past enemies, such as Sneeks.
Blazing Bazukas
The second factory stage of Mekanos features Bazukas, small Kremling enemies with large cannons which shoot barrels constantly at the right or left direction. The primates must bounce on Wooden Barrels shoot by these enemies in order to traverse over tanks of liquid metal. However, some Bazukas fire TNT Barrels, forcing the heroes to avoid the projectiles entirely. There is also an optional Animal Barrel which transforms Dixie and Kiddy into Squitter the Spider, making the progress easier by using web platforms.
Low-G Labyrinth
This pipeline stage is filled with a strange, green gas that alters the force of gravity throughout it. The Kongs will move slower, but they will be able to jump high into the air. During the second half of the stage, Quawks the Parrot makes his first appearance here in the game. By turning into the Animal Buddy, the primates are capable of flying and carrying barrels.
KAOS Karnage/Kaos Karnage
The boss stage takes place inside a factory. Here, the heroes face KAOS, a large flying robot. Dixie and Kiddy must avoid contact with a rocket thruster while the boss flies around the arena. When KAOS stops of moving, two rotating blades on the boss' body must be used as stepping platforms by the Kongs in order to reach and bounce on his head. Later on, the boss' helmet will fly off and try to shoot lasers at the primates. KAOS is defeated and escapes after receiving a total of six hits in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version of Donkey Kong Country 3 and seven hits in the Game Boy Advance version. The heroes will also earn a single Ski from the boss' destroyed helmet.
By also clearing the world Cotton-Top Cove and receiving the second Ski, the player can unlock the Turbo Ski at the Funky's Rentals. In the SNES version, the vehicle gives access to the world K3. However, in the GBA version, the Turbo Ski allows to reach the worlds Pacifica, K3 and Razor Ridge in any order chosen by the player.

Trivia
- The name "Mekanos" is probably a wordplay on Mykonos[2], an island in the Greece.
- Mekanos is similar to the world Kremkroc Industries of the Donkey Kong Island from the game Donkey Kong Country. Both are former natural locations taken by the Kremlings and their industrial business.
