Shuris are underwater starfish enemies first appearing in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They have made a few other appearances since. Their name derives from a spinning weapon, a shuriken, hence their behavior.
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest/Land 2
Shuri are semi-common underwater enemies in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, and can be defeated only by a stab from Enguarde. There are two versions of Shuri here: the pink versions wait for the Kongs to get close, then spin rapidly and swim forward quickly, while the orange versions will spin and go forward whenever they see the Kongs, bouncing off walls. Shuri have a similar role in Donkey Kong Land 2 where they return.
In Donkey Kong 64, only orange Shuri appeared, and when they did, they were rare, only appearing in a few underwater stages. Shuri are quite big, and their attack pattern is like the orange Shuri from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
