Treasure Chests are a new type of item introduced in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Fitting the pirate theme of the game, treasure chests are semi-common items that hold treasure (usually Bananas or Banana Coins), however in order to get this treasure one must use the chest against a foe. Treasure chests act somewhat like barrels, however when thrown on the ground they will bounce and lose momentum. Treasure Chests reappeared in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
